Designated a “Super Lawyer” in 2007, Oregon criminal defense specialist Steven L. Krasic, Esq. shares his thoughts on the integrity of the record.  

Highlights include:

  • Civil work versus criminal work. Depos, video, who pays for what?
  • Who can do the attorney work? Who can do the reporting work?
  • Criminal defense as a constitutional requirement and the obviously guilty criminal.
  • Observations on the history, the pluses and the minuses, through the evolution of court reporting technology.
  • How Court TV and other live coverage can clobber a decent court record.
  • Compelling live reporting and funding issues, making someone else pay.
  • What’s the ‘official transcript’?
  • Secret audio recordings and the donnybrook that can follow.
  • FTR and other live recording systems, the clock and the transcription dilemma.

Objective
: Participants will begin to master over 140 everyday phrases in one stroke. Doing so will increase their speed and realtime accuracy.

  • Introduction to shorter writing. Theory and objectives are explained.
  • Left-hand pronouns portion. Words beginning with “who” are the primary focus.
  • Right-hand phrase enders are added to the left-hand pronouns to create a phrase. 
  • Active training practices based on the teachings of Dr. Mel Silberman. Instructional design based on teachings of Dr. Ruth Clark.  Accelerated learning practices based on the teachings of Dave Meier.
